Summer is here and with it comes many community parades. What’s not to love about parades? There are floats festooned with flowers and banners, dance ensembles, marching bands, and of course, the freebies tossed into the crowds.
Parades bring people together. From all walks of life community members gather and enjoy seeing and hearing the same things as the stranger standing next to them. There is excitement in the air and a lots of energy, especially if young kids are around.
The federal government purchased three cars to act as official parade cars in the 1950s: one for New York City, one for Detroit and one for Los Angeles. The car they selected? The 1952 Chrysler Imperial Parade Car.
