Almost 70 years has passed since the Willys Wagon debuted in the summer of 1946, and it was unlike any car around. The first all-steel wagon offered in America was styled with the popular "woodie" look of the time and boasted plenty of features beloved by families and those looking for a spacious, powerful vehicle.
In addition to a fold-down tailgate hatch and easy-wash interior that could be "cleaned almost as easily as the kitchen sink!," the seven-passenger wagon featured removable seats and introduced four-wheel drive in 1949. When the model was discontinued in 1965, it had been in production for nearly 20 years, which was longer than any other contemporary American automobile of the time.
The Willys Wagon went on the inspire the Grand Wagoneer and the modern day Jeep Grand Cherokee and remains one of the most important Jeep models of all time.
