While hockey is a sport played worldwide, it's a well-known fact that Canada has some of the richest hockey history around, producing some of the greatest players in the world like Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby. Dodge wanted to ensure that Canadian children can continue their country's hockey legacy by playing, and created the Caravan Kids Program, which is now about to enter its eight season.
Since the program's inception, over 8,000 teams from around the country have participated in the program which is equivalent to over 120,000 players and approximately 30,000 families. According to Dodge, if you were to pack up all of these families into a Grand Caravan and then placed them bumper-to-bumper, they would reach from Montreal to Mon Tremblant, halfway from Calgary to Edmonton, or even further than the drive from Vancouver to Whistler.
"Since 2006, Chrysler Canada has donated over $4 million through Dodge Caravan Kids to make hockey more affordable for Canadian families," explains Reid Bigland, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Chrysler Canada Inc. "Look at the sheer number of our iconic minivans in any arena parking lot nationwide and you'll understand why: It's one small way we can give back to customers who have made our products 'support players' in their family's pursuit of Canada's favorite sport."1
It makes lots of sense that Dodge and the Grand Caravan are such strong supporters of youth sports. If your kid plays a sport, you know that a versatile minivan is essential as it provides tons of passenger and cargo space, along with infotainment features that make getting to and from practice or a game uncomplicated.
