The all-new Jeep Cherokee has an intensely-unique style that hasn't been seen from the off-roading brand before, as we saw at the model's premiere at the 2013 New York Auto Show. Recently,  the new model also made its international debut at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show on April 20, 2013 for the Chinese market, where it will be called "Zi You Guang," which essentially translates to "Liberty Lite."

Mike Manley, President and CEO of Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC, and Chief Operating Officer for Asia Pacific Region, Fiat S.p.A., explains why the new Jeep model will be making its global debut in Shanghai, stating, "China is the largest market for the Jeep brand outside of the U.S., and one out of every five vehicles in the mid-size SUV segment is sold in China. Hence, it just makes sense that the new Jeep Cherokee has its international debut in Shanghai."1

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee features the first nine-speed automatic transmission in its segment and delivers a 30 percent improvement over the outgoing Jeep Liberty model. In China, drivers will have a choice of two innovative 4 X 4 systems for all-weather driving.
